2. Read verses 14:18-20. Who was Melchizedek (18, Heb 7:1-4)? What did he do upon meeting Abram (18-20a)? What did Melchizedek teach Abram about God and about his victory? How did Abram respond to Melchizedek’s blessing (20b)? What does his tithe mean?

3. Read verses 14:17,21-24. What did the king of Sodom offer to Abram? (17,21) Why did Abram refuse it (22-24)? In whom did Abram put his trust?

4. Read verse 15:1. How was Abram’s spiritual condition after the war? How did God encourage Abram (1)? What does it mean that God was Abram’s shield and very great reward (Ps 46:1-3; Heb 11:6)? Is God your shield and your very great reward?

5. Read verses 15:2-6. What did Abram complain about (2-3)? Who will be Abram’s heir (4)? What vision did God give Abram (5)? What was Abram’s response to God’s promise (6a)? What made Abram righteous (6, Ro 4:11-12)? How can you be righteous?

6. Read verses 15:7-21. Why had God brought Abram out of Ur (7)? What ceremony did God make? (8-11,17)? What does the ceremony mean? What did God say about Abram’s descendants (12-16)? What covenant did God make with Abram (18-21)? What covenant did God make with you? (Mt 26:28)
