THE HOLY PRIESTS (II)

Leviticus 21-22

Key Verse: 21:6                 

"They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy."

 

 

 

 


I. Laws for priests and high priest (chapter 21)

 

1.      Read verses 21:1-9. What are the laws for the priests concerning taking part in a funeral ceremony (1-4), customs (5-6), and marriage (7-9)? Why must the priests observe such laws? 2.      Read verses 10-15. What are the laws for the high priest concerning customs (10), taking part in a funeral ceremony (11-12) and marriage (13-15)? Why are the laws for the high priest stricter than for the ordinary priests?


 

3.      Read verses 16-24. Among descendants of Aaron, who are not allowed to exercise priestly office? (16-24) Why not? (23) Find out the repeated sentence, “I am the LORD, who makes you holy.” (8,15,23) How can you be as holy as God? Think about your life as God’s servants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


II. Laws for sacred offerings (chapter 22)

 

4.      Read verses 22:1-16. How should the priests treat the sacred offerings? (1-2,9,16) Among priests, who are not allowed to eat the sacred offering? (3-9) Who are allowed to eat it? Are your offerings and worship acceptable to God?
